About these website terms of use
These website terms of use apply to sg.trw.co, the website of TRW & Co’s Singapore office (“the website”). In these terms, “TRW & Co”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the firm, and “you” refers to anyone who visits or uses the website.
By using the website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. We have written them in plain English; the summaries in bold are part of the terms, and the expandable sections give the full wording of each clause.
The website contains general information, not legal advice. Reading it, or contacting us through it, does not make you our client. Do not rely on it for decisions without taking advice on your own facts. You may read, share links to and quote short extracts from our content, but not copy it wholesale. Singapore law governs these terms.
General information, not legal advice
Everything on the website is general information about the law at the time it was written. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for advice on your particular circumstances.
1. Nature of the content
The practice pages, insight articles in the Perspective library, legal update summaries and other materials on the website explain legal and regulatory topics in general terms. They are written for a broad audience and cannot take account of your facts, your objectives or the law of every jurisdiction that may be relevant to you. Law, regulation and regulator guidance change frequently, and an article that was accurate when published may since have been overtaken.
2. No solicitor-client relationship
Using the website, reading its content, submitting a contact form, sending an email or leaving a telephone message does not create a solicitor-client or other professional relationship between you and TRW & Co. A client relationship arises only when we have completed our conflict and identification checks and confirmed in writing that we will act for you, on agreed terms of engagement.
3. Do not send confidential information unprompted
Until we have confirmed that we can act for you, please do not send confidential or sensitive information about a matter. Information you send before then may not be treated as confidential or privileged, and receiving it will not prevent us from acting for another party, including a party whose interests are opposed to yours. A short description of the nature of your enquiry and the parties involved is enough for an initial conflict check.
No reliance and accuracy
We take care with our content but do not promise that it is complete, accurate or current. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of the website alone.
4. No reliance
You must not rely on any content on the website as the basis for a legal, commercial or financial decision. Before acting, take advice from a qualified professional on your own circumstances, and check the official sources we cite. To the extent permitted by law, we do not accept responsibility for any loss arising from reliance on the website’s content.
5. Dates, figures and qualifications
Articles and pages describe the law as at the date of writing or the date stated. Where we refer to thresholds, fees, rates, timelines or commencement dates, these may change after publication. Descriptions of our services are general; they do not mean we can act on every matter in every jurisdiction. Where Singapore court or tribunal representation is required, we work alongside Singapore-qualified counsel.
Intellectual property and permitted use
We own, or are licensed to use, the content on the website. You may use it for your own information and share links to it, but you may not copy it wholesale or use it commercially without permission.
6. Ownership
Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the text, graphics, page layout, photographs and other material on the website belong to TRW & Co or to the people who licensed them to us, and are protected under laws including the Copyright Act 2021. The name “TRW & Co” and our logos may not be used without our written permission, including in a way that suggests we endorse a product, service, publication or event.
7. What you may do
You may view, download and print pages for your own personal or internal business reference. You may share links to any page. You may quote short extracts, provided the quotation is accurate, attributed to “TRW & Co Singapore” and accompanied by a link to the original page. Journalists and researchers can ask for citation guidance at info@trw.co.
8. What you may not do
Without our prior written permission, you may not reproduce whole pages or articles, republish or translate our content, sell it or include it in a paid product, present it as your own, remove attribution or copyright notices, or use automated tools to scrape, harvest or bulk-copy the website, including to train or fine-tune software models. You must not use the website in any way that is unlawful, that interferes with its operation or security, or that attempts to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
Links to and from the website
You may link to us fairly; we are not responsible for other people’s websites.
9. Links to other websites
The website links to external sources, such as Singapore Statutes Online and regulators’ websites, so that you can check primary material. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or privacy practices. A link does not mean we endorse the website or its owner. Official sources should be checked directly for the current position.
10. Linking to the website
You may link to any page of the website, provided you do so fairly and lawfully and do not suggest any association, approval or endorsement that does not exist. You must not frame the website within another site or present our content in a way that hides its source. We may ask you to remove a link at any time.
Our liability
The website is provided free of charge and “as is”; our liability for it is limited to the extent the law allows.
11. Availability and security
We do not guarantee that the website will be available at all times, free of errors, or free of viruses or other harmful code. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website without notice. You are responsible for using appropriate security software when accessing the website.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TRW & Co excludes liability for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect or consequential, arising from use of, or inability to use, the website or reliance on its content, including loss of profit, business, data or opportunity. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Where we act for a client, our responsibilities are governed by the engagement terms for that matter, not by these terms.
Privacy, governing law and changes
13. Personal data
We handle personal data collected through the website, including through our contact details and analytics cookies, in accordance with our privacy notice and the Personal Data Protection Act 2012.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the website, are governed by the laws of Singapore. The courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may bring proceedings to protect our intellectual property in any jurisdiction where they are being infringed.
15. Third parties and severability
No one other than you and TRW & Co has any right to enforce these terms, whether under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 or otherwise. If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the website or the law. The version published on this page at the time you use the website applies, so please check it periodically. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the foot of this page.

Frequently asked questions
01If I email the firm about my problem, are you now my lawyers?
No. An email, form submission or call does not create a solicitor-client relationship. We first carry out conflict and identification checks, and a relationship begins only when we confirm in writing that we will act and agree terms of engagement. Until then, please send only a brief outline of the matter and the parties involved, not confidential documents.
02Can I quote one of your articles in my report or newsletter?
Yes, short extracts are fine if they are accurate, attributed to TRW & Co Singapore and linked to the original page. Reproducing a whole article, translating it, or using it in a paid product or commercial materials requires our written permission, which you can request at info@trw.co.
03Can I rely on a practice page to make a business decision?
No. The pages are general information and may not reflect later changes in law, regulator guidance or practice. They cannot take account of your facts. Use them to understand the issues and prepare questions, then take advice on your circumstances before acting, and check the official sources cited.
04Why can I not use automated tools to copy the website?
Bulk copying or scraping reproduces our content without attribution or context and can affect the website's performance and security. The terms therefore prohibit scraping, harvesting and bulk copying, including to train or fine-tune software models, unless we have given written permission.
05How will I know if these terms change?
The version on this page at the time you use the website applies, and the date at the foot of the page shows when it was last updated. If you use the website regularly, check this page from time to time.
